What we hold, and what we do with it
ReaderROI works out whether your advertising is earning its money back. Doing that means holding your advertising figures and your royalties. This page says exactly what we keep, who else can see it, and how to get rid of it.

Who we are
ReaderROI is advertising decision software for independent authors. You can reach us at hello@readerroi.com, and we answer questions about your own data at that address.
We are independent. We are not part of Amazon and Amazon does not own, endorse or control us.
What we hold
Four kinds of thing, and nothing outside them.
Your account
- Your email address, and your name if you give us one.
- Your pen name, your reporting currency and your timezone — so “last 7 days” means your days, not our server’s.
Your advertising
Only once you connect an advertising account, and only for the account you connect:
- The account’s name, its marketplace, its currency and its identifier at the provider.
- Your campaigns, ad groups, keywords and targets, and the search terms your ads appeared against.
- Daily figures: spend, clicks, impressions, attributed orders and sales, and — for Kindle Unlimited — pages read and the royalties Amazon estimates from them.
Your books and royalties
- Books and series you enter, with their prices and royalty rates.
- Sales and royalty rows from any KDP report you upload. We read the file, keep the rows, and tell you about every row we could not read and why.
What the product produces
- Recommendations, and a record of which ones you approved.
- An audit log of every change made to your advertising account through us, and a record of each data sync.
- Any feedback you send us, along with the page you were on when you sent it.
What we never hold
- Your Amazon password. Connecting an account happens on Amazon’s own sign-in page. Amazon hands us a token afterwards. We never see, receive or store your password.
- That token, in readable form. It is encrypted before it is stored, and it is never sent to your browser.
- Card details. We do not take payments through this site.
- Anything from tracking you. There is no Google Analytics here, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracker of any kind. The only cookies we set are the ones that keep you signed in.
What we use it for
One purpose: to work out what a reader is actually worth to you, judge your advertising against that, and tell you what to do next. That is the entire product, and it is the entire use.
We also use your email address to reply to you and to send you things about your own account — a sync that failed, a recommendation waiting for approval.
Where artificial intelligence fits, and where it does not
Every number in this product is calculated by ordinary, tested arithmetic. An AI model never computes a figure, never decides anything, and never touches your advertising account. Its only job is turning a result that has already been worked out into a sentence worth reading.
Because of that, what leaves for the AI service is a short summary and nothing else — plain labels like “click-through healthy” or “cost per reader above break-even”, a count of clicks, and the number of days being looked at.
Your name, your email, your book titles, your royalties, your campaign names and your account identifiers are not sent. Neither is anything that could identify you or your books.
If the AI service is unavailable or switched off, the product writes the same explanations from fixed templates and behaves identically otherwise.
Who else touches your data
Four companies, each doing one job.
- Supabase — stores the database and handles signing in. They hold everything listed above.
- Vercel — runs the website itself. Your data passes through as pages are served.
- Anthropic — writes the explanations, and receives only the summary described above.
- Amazon — but only your own advertising account, only after you connect it, and only to read your figures and to make changes you have approved.
Nobody else. We may add a payment provider when we start charging, and this page will say so before that happens.
What we never do
- Sell your data, or share it for anyone else’s advertising.
- Show your figures to another author, or blend them into anything another author sees.
- Use your data to train AI models — ours or anybody else’s.
- Change anything in your advertising account that you did not approve.
How long we keep it
While your account exists. Delete your account and everything attached to it goes with it — your books, your royalties, your advertising figures, your recommendations and your audit log. That is enforced by the database itself, not by us remembering to do it.
One exception, and we would rather be straight about it: feedback you have sent us stays, because it is how the product gets better. It is detached from you first, so what remains is the message with no account behind it.
What you can ask for
Email hello@readerroi.com and ask us to:
- Tell you everything we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Send you a copy of your data.
- Delete your account and everything in it.
- Disconnect an advertising account, which stops any further data coming in.
Depending on where you live, some of these are your legal right rather than our courtesy. We do not distinguish — you can ask for any of them wherever you are.
How it is protected
- Every page and request uses an encrypted connection.
- Who may read which rows is enforced by the database, not only by the application — so a mistake in our code cannot show one author another author’s figures.
- Advertising tokens are encrypted before storage and never reach the browser.
- Every change made to an advertising account through us is written to an audit log you can read.
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects your data, we will tell you.
If this page changes
We will change the date at the top, and if the change actually affects what happens to your data, we will email you rather than hope you noticed.
